Develop Apps For Android
If you are going to develop apps for Android, there are a few helpful tips that you should keep in mind that are going to be extremely helpful to you along the way. The process is not perfect, and more than likely you are going to run across some problems as you go; however, the trick is to tackle each one individually so that you can overcome them and create an excellent Android app.
After speaking to my friend Eric who has 12 years’ experience in the field of mobile applications with Symbiosis, I want to pass this helpful information on to you in order to help make the process easier for you as you go. These tips are ones which he has picked up as he learned to develop apps for Android over the years and is now sharing his valuable insight with you.
- Global Theme – Using a global theme is going to prevent you from having to change styles for every activity within your app. If you would like to customize the theme you can do so by using the built in dark or light themes and then tweaking them as needed.
- Flexible Layout – Android apps have the ability to run on many different screen sizes; for this reason it is imperative that you choose a flexible layout that will be able to stretch the content of the app to the proper size of the screen. By choosing wrap content within the XML layout your app will automatically adjust to the proper screen size.
- Use Selectors as Backgrounds – This is one mistake which is commonly made and can easily be avoided. When you are setting the background for lists or buttons make sure that you use selectors instead of image files. You should further customize these so that the app will display the proper view from different states.
- Testing – When testing your beta version of your Android app be sure that you have emulators which will test each of the Android versions which are currently available. The app can respond and run differently on different version so it is essential that you check for bugs within all versions of Android.
